Disable Unwanted Services
There are many services that run in the background, go through them from your Computer Management window and disable unnecessary services. For example, the Messenger Service is for net bios messaging, this can be used to annoy anyone, but if you disable the service it can not be.

Fat vs NTFS
Lets face it, anyone still using Fat instead of NTFS is living in the past. There are file features that are included in NTFS that are not included in Fat. File attributes are extended to include permissions. Plus it is a more stable faster file system.

Software Conflicts
Have you ever loaded a program, and when you finished the computer will not boot anymore. There are a lot of programs that will conflict with each other. For example virus software like AVG Anti virus will stop access to a program until it has a chance to scan the program for viruses. If you are running AVG and you load Norton Anti virus, which does the same thing as AVG, they will stop each other from accessing that file creating a conflict that will crash your computer.

Know your computers limitations
Operating systems that are new to the market often have errors and problems with specific software applications. A good plan is to load and a second hard drive with the new operating system and install into your computer, while unplugging your current hard drive. This keeps all your crucial information safe while you are using a new operating system.
